On August 12, 2021, I was diagnosed with breast cancer (ductal carcinoma and invasive ductal carcinoma), which was spreading rapidly. Less than a year later, on March 28, 2022, I lost my mom to cancer. Learning to Float is a collection of poetry written between my diagnosis and the one-year anniversary of my mom’s passing. This journal chronicles my journey through grief, resilience, and the lessons I learned along the way about choosing joy, even in the darkest moments.

If you’re curious about how I navigated these life-altering challenges, processed grief while still embracing life, and ultimately chose joy over despair, Learning to Float offers an intimate glimpse into the most challenging two years of my life.

When you purchase Learning to Float, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Cancer Support Community—an organization that played a pivotal role in helping me publish this book. They offer invaluable, free services like writing groups to people facing cancer, just as they did for me.
